The Children's Ministry of The Capstone Church has a mission to teach the children of the families of The Capstone Church the foundations of the Christian faith that are based on Deuteronomy 6-- "These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."
On Sundays, we seek to provide a safe, nurturing environment for infants 6 weeks to age two in a nursery that is staffed with volunteers from within the church body. For toddlers, our ministry continues to offer a safe and nurturing environment that begins to focus on sharing with others and learning some of the basics of God and creation.
Childcare for infants and toddlers is available beginning at 9:45 each Sunday Morning. Parents can sign their children in and take a contact number for themselves. In the event of an emergency, the child's contact number will appear on the screen notifying a parent to come to the nursery.
For children age 4 through 5th Grade, we offer a program called FW Friends. Children gather together for an Opening Celebration, where they will learn the Bible Story of the day. Then the kids travel in small groups with Circle of Friends Leaders to Discovery Stations that continue to teach the day's Bible Point in different learning styles. The Discovery Centers include: Snack It Café, Projects with a Purpose, Games, Music & Memory, and Surprise Station. For the preschool children, the curriculum is varied at each Discovery Center for their learning level. Children have the opportunity to sit through the music and drama portion of the worship serviced. They are dismissed with a slide on the screen. Children can exit to the back to meet the volunteers who will take them to FW Friends. Parents can pick up their children after the service after signing them out.
For The Capstone Church Midweek Service, the children's ministry offers a unique opportunity for children to grow in their faith through the arts. With Capstone Kids CREATE, children will to express their faith through singing, drama, art, dance, musical instruments, as well as other forms of expressive art. We anticipate Capstone Kids CREATE to become a premier arts program for children in the Tuscaloosa community.
Throughout the year, there are many activities in which The Capstone Kids participate. They include a awesome week of vacation Bible school in summer, fall festival, Christmas Advent Party, participation in Operation Christmas Child (a missions project), an egg hunt, and several social activities.
Another component of the Capstone Kids Ministry is to provide parents with resources for parenting and family focused information. These resources may come in the form of recommended books, internet sites, and other publications. Check out the kids connection table for the latest resources.
Volunteers are a key component of a successful children's ministry. If you would like to volunteer for children's ministry activities, please contact visit the children¹s ministry connection table.
